Two Palmyra residents were killed early Monday morning in a one-car crash on Canandaigua Road in Macedon, New York state police said. Driver Hailee Winston, 18, and passenger Jose Munoz, 20, were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
State police are continuing to investigate a one-car crash early Monday morning on Canandaigua Road that killed two young people.
Troopers said that shortly after 3 a.m., Hailee “Nicki” Winston, 18, was driving south on Canandaigua Road when her vehicle crossed the northbound lane, drove onto the east shoulder, traveled back across the northbound lane and again left the roadway of the east shoulder.
The vehicle struck a utility pole, and then the passenger side struck a tree, troopers said.
Winston and passenger Jose Munoz, 20, both with Palmyra mailing addresses, were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.
The state police's accident reconstruction unit, as well as Macedon Town Ambulance and Macedon Fire Department, responded to the scene.
More details on the crash were not available as of press time Tuesday.
Nicki was a 2012 graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School and worked for Wegmans in Perinton, according to an obituary provided by the Robert Yost Funeral Home of Palmyra. She loved horseback riding and competed in English and Barrell Racing formats. She enjoyed roller skating, gardening, her pet rabbit and hamsters and working as a Zumba instructor, according to the obituary.
Services for Nicki are from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 13 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, June 14 at Zion Episcopal Church in Palmyra. Burial will follow in Palmyra Cemetery.
