Webster Community Chest will sponsor the second annual Greater Rochester Peep Show and student art contest April 8-9 at Webster Community Recreation Center, 1350 Chiyoda Drive.
The art contest is open for students in grades seven through 12 from the Greater Rochester area. Entries can be an original, hand-drawn piece or a computer graphic image in any media — crayon, pastel, pencil, paper collage, photographic, etc. Pieces must not be larger than 2 feet by 3 feet or a 3-D art piece. The design must show at least one recognizable Peep image in the design, but no actual candy should be included.
The works will be judged by professional artists. All received artwork will be exhibited at the April show and will be eligible for additional prizes and awards from the judges.
Organizers anticipate that over 120 art works and dioramas made with Marshmallow Peeps candies or based on the Peeps candy theme will be displayed. Four winners will receive cash scholarships: $100, $50 and two $25 awards.
The contest runs through March 8.
Admission to the show is free. The show raises money entirely through donations and by sale of voting tokens at the even. All proceeds go to participating Rochester-area charities. Prizes and awards will be determined through the voting tokens.
