Monroe County Advancing Wellness and Resilience in Education will host its free youth mental health first aid certification training from 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. March 13-14 at Syracuse Behavioral Health, 1350 University Ave., Rochester.
The eight-hour certification course will discuss how to help an adolescent who is experiencing a mental health challenge, substance use disorder or is in crisis.
Participants can expect hands-on activities and practice, training in how to utilize a five-step action plan and to recognize typical adolescent behavior versus potential warning signs, an overview of local mental health resources and other supports, a manual with information on the course’s topics and a three-year YMHFA certificate.
