Mustafa Abushagur, professor of microsystems engineering and electrical and microelectrical engineering at RIT, has recently been awarded the Robert E. Hopkins Leadership Award from the Optical Society of America.
The award is presented annually and recognizes individuals or groups who have made a significant impact on the global optics and photonics community. Abushagur, who has had a distinguished career in both academia and industry, joined RIT in 2002 and was named the founding president of RIT Dubai in 2008.
He maintains a residence in Brighton.
