Rush-Henrietta students Mustafa Said and Christopher Patino have been honored as recipients in the Rochester Police Department’s “Do The Right Thing” Program for the month of March.
According to Monroe County sheriff’s deputies, Patino, 16, and Said, 19, intervened Jan. 25 when Kevin Minemier, 18, of Henrietta, began stabbing Nicole Bean, 17, of Henrietta, at the Wegmans on Calkins Road in Henrietta. Patino and Said fought with Minemier and were able to take the knife from him, deputies said. They said they credit Said and Patino with saving Bean’s life.
On Feb. 1, Patino and Said were honored by the Monroe County Legislature. County Executive Maggie Brooks proclaimed the day as Christopher Patino and Mustafa Said Day in Monroe County.
Minemier was in court last month before Monroe County Judge Victoria Argento. He is scheduled to be back in court at 2 p.m. April 21.
