Rush Henrietta graduate Tim Kuchman, a class of 2013 student and on the 2013 Class Council, was part of the planning for Wednesday's taco line event at the U of R.
"We searched for a way to beat a world record," said Kuchman. And, of course, the council settled on longest taco line, because, "what's better than something edible?" said Kuchman.
Hundreds gathered in the Wilson Commons area to watch the preparation play out. Students and staff setup tables in a winding formation, tediously laying out over 1,000 tacos.
One by one, University of Rochester students, faculty and staffed rolled out 1,156 tacos on Wednesday—all in the name of breaking a Guinness World Record.
And they suceeded. With 1,036 tacos, the U of R officially broke the world record of "longest taco line" ever, beating the University of Michigan's prior record of 853.
