Francis "Joe" Martin, Jr., a funeral director at the Miller Funeral Homes in Rochester, was installed president-elect of the New York State Funeral Directors Association, Inc. (NYSFDA) at the organization's annual convention, which concluded Aug. 15 in Poughkeepsie.
A New York State licensed funeral director since 1982, Martin will serve for the 2012-2013 term.
Martin is a fourth generation funeral director who worked with his father and grandfather at Henry D. Halloran Son, Inc. Named as manager in 1986, he held that post until the company merged with Miller Funeral Homes in 2011.
He is a member and two-time past president of the Rochester Genesee Valley Funeral Directors Association (RGVFDA). He has been a member of the RGVFDA Board of Directors for the past 16 years. Martin is also a member of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA).
Martin is a charter member of the Henrietta Genesee Valley Moose Lodge 2290, third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a life member of the West Henrietta Fire Department, a past chief of the Henrietta Fire District and a Commissioner of the Henrietta Fire District for the past 12 years currently serving as chairman of the Board of Commissioners.
